Is not being social anti-social?

With all the news about social networking, I have a pressing question. If you or your company are not participating in social networks, are you anti-social? I mean really, if you do not actively participate in some or all of the myriad of social networks popping up, are you in some way anti-social?
In a business context this is especially intriguing as many companies have not rolled out policies or strategies with respect to social networking, yet their employees and customers probably participate in some way or another in these new communities.
At the heart of the matter, social versus anti-social is irrelevant – the real question, as it always should be in business, what are the potential benefits of participating versus not participating. These are the questions which should be finding there way into the daily dialog in order to set the appropriate course for an organization.
